Thing is, $$ invested claims are almost universally crap anyway.

If I blow an engine at high 200s WHP, then put in a built engine, I can now count the cost of both when I CL it. Then I blow a 5 speed and put in a 6 speed. Well shoot, that's 2000 bucks right there because the 6 speed was about a grand, the 5 speed is worth maybe 250, and then I had to replace the stock clutch with a proper unit and all the gear oil and a new shifter gasket thingy and mount. Counting the new clutch and flywheel, hey that was more like a 2700 investment! Lord knows what it is with labor thrown in! When realistically the transmission was basically a sub-1000 investment and counting the clutch and flywheel we could maybe say something like 1600.

And so on.

The cars body work looks really solid, but 70K must be counting every little thing and labor. In other words, that 70K number is basically normal Ebay/CL/etc posturing for negotiations and needs a lot of salt.

It's worth what somebody will pay for it. Assuming there are some good used parts under there, I might pay $1K.

The guy is local... car only goes to show and he's considering himself stupid for spending so much money on that car.

^^ Agreed.

I think what we forget is that people like the one who "built" that car, they are not 'car people' like we are in this forum. I really don't think they're car people at all.

Also, I automatically think anyone who adds a "$" at the end of a number as to represent a literal "twenty dollars" pronunciation, is a moron. We all learned in elementary school that all numerical amounts involving money are represented with a "$" in front of the amount.

You don't count....you're trying to modify a front-wheel drive car

If you push one FWD with another FWD car, would the front car be considered rear-push drive?

For once I'm useful to this forum.

For $70K I would buy a used 2005 Porsche 911 for $45K as my weekend toy and a used VW CC as my everyday ride. And still have a few bucks let over to purchase insurance on both cars for 6 months.
