Seriously, why not run BP electronics on the B6? I think the only complication is going to be at the throttle body, where you'll just use the B6 plugs on the existing wiring harness. This will save you hours of frustration.

Ok, lay it out for like I'm a retard. When you say run BP electronics what exactly do you mean?

What are we calling "shell"? NA8 is going to have extra bracing, larger fuel tank, and a second airbag. Is that part of the shell?

I'm assuming that there's no suspension on the shell, so we can't look at the heavier brakes, nor can we look at the heavier diff.
It's a combination of a lot of smaller things. My stripped (and I mean stripped) '94 weighs in at 2100lbs. There are 1900lb 90s with rollbars. My car has a turbo, but turbos don't weigh 100lbs. It's the 90 specifically, too - they are the lightest year.

savington what cage are you running/bracing?

2100 is pretty dam light for a 94

Read the FM swap guide relating to putting a BP into a B6 chassis. You're doing the opposite, putting a B6 into a BP chassis. The methodology is going to be the same. Your only hang up I can forsee is the throttle body as the BP t-body will not bolt to the B6 intake manifold. You will be reusing your 1.6 t-body and sensors, so you'll need to snip the TPS and Idle Valve pigtails and solder them to the new tub's harness.

You will need to reconfig your MS wiring for 96 spec, and really you should go standalone.

So you're comparing race car to race car? The 90 is going to be lightest due to lack of door bars and under chassis bracing. I would imagine a B6 weighs less than a BP, but I've never weighed them for comparison. Otherwise, remember the later car is heavier due to more bracing, bigger tank, bigger rear, etc. How fair is your comparison vs the 1900 lb car? Same brakes (aren't you running 11"?), bracing, diff, etc? The 11" corrado set up is way heavier than a standard 1.6 setup, which is way heavier than an 11" wilwood setup. If you've got 10lbs per front corner in your brakes, and 60 lbs in your turbo system, and 20 lbs in your upgraded diff... well this mass disparity gets whittled away pretty quickly, no?

If we're talking shell to shell, the only things I can think of that are lighter on the 90 are the door bars and fuel tank. And anything can be swapped back and forth, but I'd imagine a typical shell contains the tank and doors.

My mind is open, but I've stripped too many of these to understand how a 90 shell weighs ~200lbs less than a later shell.
