LOL.

I hear ya. I'm old school. I know how to use a strip kit to tune a Carter AFB on a MOPAR big block. But I must say, MS has grown on me big time.

My main hangup is that the SkyActive motors don't seem to be as overbuilt as the B6 and BP motors.

I'd do Salmon instead of Carp. Tastes better.

With a CR up to 14:1 on NA a boosted Skyactive would probably have 11-12:1.
Aftermarket would not be much different than for the S2000. It will take some time to figure out how to push the limits, but it will be done. Reducing compression with pistons is always an option.

But when will the block (crank, rods) give up, below or above 1000bhp? The head will flow at least, as all low emission heads do (sometimes too large ports for NA).

All else being equal, I'll take the Tuna.

A friend of mine was down at Laguna talking to one of the guys from the original miata design team, so he was telling me some stuff about the ND miata that he heard from him. I don't know how much is true, or how much will change before it gets built, but he said it is in fact going to be much lighter than the NC, with less horsepower. It probably won't be quite as fast in a straight line. He did say they were not going to put a turbo in it yet, but he seemed to think they were leaving space for a mazdaspeed version of this one.
