Did you work with Bill @ Miataroadster? We are talking about a mechanical sender, correct? One of the pics on this thread looks like a electronic sender.

Well you know, calling BS is normal around here (a good thing) so I nipped that in the bud so to speak. I could have gone into excruciating detail but decided against that

Read my prior post, #7, those are the same part numbers Ben is talking about. It works. It's mechanical. The speedo reads about 2 mph slower at 80mph according to the GPS but that's about it.

Very interesting, I have the white 19 tooth gear and the offset housing but they didn't mesh. I'll have to check my part numbers tonight and bounce them against yours.

Just bought a 6 speed gearbox + 3.6 diff

after reading all off this i don't understand the problem...
A lot of effort to get a suitable transgear.

The 89-91 miata has a 20 tooth gear (including transmitter) according to solomiata website... Isn't this what we are looking for.
As for 89-91 owners.. We need an other gear (with 17-18 teeth..)
That could be tricky...as it is only found in 84-85 RX7...
Is this PNP???

Correct me if i am wrong...

9958-60-8166 - Oil Seal for inside the sleeve.
1011-17-443 - O-Ring for the outside of the sleeve.
Has anyone successfully obtained these parts? I keep calling a few different dealers and none seem to give a **** about making some money considering I'm trying to buy 2 sets.

I picked-up another 6/3.63 combo for my daily to make runs from Dallas to Houston more tolerable at 90mph.

Ok, I put this in the turbo car yesterday and it's a little off. It reads 80mph at 75mph (according to my G2X). Can it get any better or is this the best we can do, which is good enough I suppose.

Earlier in the thread you had the M503- gear, are you using that gear or the M502? What size tires?

Weird, that was the same gear and tire size used on my NA, however I had the opposite condition, the speedometer showed around 78 mph when the GPS showed 80 mph (as posted above). Maybe pop open the cluster and adjust the needle? I'm sorry, I don't know what else to suggest, mine was only 2 mph off so I never messed with it. Or if you still have the M503 gear you could try swapping it out and see if it gets things closer.

This is pretty good and you helped. My last speedo read 15mph low at 80. I'm going to buy another set for my daily and it's pending 6-3.63 swap.

Hustler, where are you finding all these 6-3.63 swaps here in Dallas? I realize you're probably buying the gearsets from MazdaMotorsports, but where is the abundance of 6 speeds for sale?

I think I have them all actually with 2 spare 6-speeds in the garage, lol. I bought one set of gears from Mazdacomp and the other from a guy who thought he was selling me a 3.90, half a year later I counted the teeth and it was a 3.63. I score trans from an SM shop for $400 and the other for $600 from an auto-x guy.

The daily set-up is going to be part of "operation hypermile" with the VVT & MS3X swaps coming down the pipe.

I know my setup reads a couple of MPH on the high side based on speedo reading vs. "your speed is" police sign, but it's certainly within a couple percent.
