Default How to get remotivated?

My project car has been on a hiatus for 4 months and the reason i stopped is because i got burnt out. I didnt feel like working on it anymore and i started a new job where i get up at 4 AM everyday and come home tired. Well i miss driving my miata but i dont know how to get remotivated to finish it. The car is ready to start minus the oil return situation ( low mount turbo allows no room for AN fittings). Just wondering if anyone had a tip to stay motivated on their car or how to get motivated after taking a break.

I had this same problem last winter. What I did? Just went the **** out and started working on it, and suddently, time started flying and I found all those little things that needed redoing or refinishing/whatnot.

Uh, quit? That's what I did. It's part of what I hated. I was oily and dirty all day long at work as a gear cutter, then I was expected to get cold and greasy at home? It rarely worked and I usually just went home and took a nap. Now I enjoy my life, and the Miata is running better than ever. Now if only I could afford the premium...

And where the hell have you been?!?

Ha! That's my advice. Stay on the board more often and you'll slowly read and look at things you wanna do. Like the oil drain thread.

Me thinks this is the ticket.

Another distraction has been my girlfriend (she is seriously awesome), in which, well, you know. But i would rather have great sex than get bruised knuckles, dirty, and oily all over.

The way i try to visualize inspiration is by looking at the final product of my blood, sweat and tears. Im thinking of getting back on some medication for my ADHD to allow me to prioritize and execute. It wouldnt be a every day pill more like a "when i want to get **** done" pill. Any thoughts on this?

I had times when I didn't want to work on my miata.

When my adaptronic tune and settings were beyond ****.
When my engine took a dump.
When I warped my manifold flange 4 times.
etc etc etc etc

I took a break. Just didn't even go near the car for a while. Then I just attacked it in a fury, busted out all the not-so-fun work, got it running, took it for a spin, and FELL IN LOVE AGAIN after that the other misc stuff needing to be done seemed like such fun and easy projects.

Get some friends involved. Put a weekend aside, ask some buddies for help, get food & drinks, profit.

Funny, we just had the exact same thread in the V8 section of m.net. I think the time of year has something to do with it. It's nice out, the days are long, the last thing that I want to do is be inside.

My V8 car build has been on a three week hiatus since I bought the bike. I did get some work done in the shop, and just this weekend I installed AC in the shop, so that will be nice.

Big projects for me are a winter thing - it's cold, the days are short and it's already dark when I get home. Very easy to get into the shop. When it's nice out and light until after 9:00, there's a lot of other things that compete for my attention.
