Default Acetone added to fuel

Curious if anyone's tried to add acetone into their fuel? It's alleged (in very small quantities like 3 oz per 10 gallons) to allow gas to vaporize more completely.

A guy on the miatapower list tried in his Ford Tempo and noticed no improvement in mileage (no change for that matter) and that was his goal.

Not wanting to use it as an octane booster. The idea is it allows fuel to vaporize better allowing for more complete combustion of the fuel. That translates into efficiency. The other benefit would be lower hydrocarbon emissions.

While the former is worthwhile, I'm wondering about the later. I have a car that just *barely* failed emissions due to high HC--and I'm having a hard time trying to fix the problem.
