Advance timing light question
Sorry I didn't make myself clear. The CAS was removed before I bought the engine. I fitted another from the 1.6. I do not know its origanal timing postion on this engine. I hope this makes better sense. Cheers

read the manual.
you're talking about setting timing on the megasquirt in the general miata section. this has been covered again and again and again and again.

Are you running with stock coils, cops, or something else?
Some ingition systems will not work with a dial back timing light. I have a high dollar Snap On light, and it is not compatible with my Electromotive ignition. It has a crank trigger with a coil pack per cylinder. I have know idea why it does not work, but Electromotive warned me that it would not work, and they were right. It showed 0 at 10 and 10 at 0 just like you said, but it was way off when I double checked it with a standard light. The timing was retarded by about 40 degrees. I ended up buying a Discount Auto cheapo, and it has worked fine ever since. However, the dial back light did work right when I had the stock ignition.
Borrow or buy one, and make sure it is the same as your dial back before going on that goose chase.
