Anyone else dislike the OEM Head Gasket?

On the 1.6 (1989~1993)

I am tired of taking off heads and finding pieces of the gasket extruding into the holes in the deck. Anyone know of a better gasket?

the oem HG is WORLDS better than any of the cheap aftermarket ones I've ever used.

I believe they do actually, but it's like 3x the cost of the OEM one.

Cometic is a great MLS gasket. They also make a variety of thicknesses. Felpro is also a very good alternative to OEM.

It's the material that the OEM gasket is made of that's annoying, not the fact that it's OEM.

Felpro's is identical, or a composite head gasket, rather than the later metal ones.
