There's a man named Keith who has been selling this shifter for the past year or so. He recently came out with his second revised version. I'm wondering if anyone has tried this and has anything to say about it. I attached a picture and here is his website: https://www.gracingshifters.com/. I haven't used this shifter personally, but I've seen a few people post about it on Facebook. People seem to like it. Seems to rattle for everyone at higher rpm, similar to how the IRP shifter does. They say wrapping the ball with teflon tape seems to fix that for the most part. I don't believe it used a plastic bushing like the oem one does, so that may be the source of the issue. Also, apparently it has "worn out" for a couple people? saying that after a few months, it felt loose.
Thanks so much for that info. I was concerned about the lack of the bushing too. I actually just ordered one a few minutes ago and asked him to turn the ball down to the stock shift ball size so I could put the bushing on it. I'll update this thread or make another one as a review once I get it it and what not. Seems really nice though, and it was $280 for everything (he charged me $20 extra to turn the ball down). Are there any aftermarket shifters that still have an isolated shifter like stock? I think almost all of the loud/rattly/buzzing noises that people report after installing a short shifter are from the fact the OEM isolation is no longer present, so you have a direct transfer path to all of that 2EO shaking force (from the rod ratio).

Some people have adapted the rubber piece to help the vibration, but it hasn't seem to eliminate it. i did see someone modify the oem shifter to fit the MR's taller base and that seem to be the best solution as far as vibration. in the Trackable Miatas facebook page. post by Kameron Wall.
Not sure what you mean exactly. Are you referring to the rubber boots and what not?
No, the OEM shifter has a rubber isolator between the fulcrum and the threaded section for the shift ****. Ie, if you clamped the lower section in a vice, you can very slightly move the threaded section. I think this isolation cuts out a lot of the NVH.
Got my shifter in the mail today. The part he spun down fit the OEM nylon bushing pretty well, but I sanded it a bit to allow a little easier movement. The shifter is already put together as pictured, and there is some grease already in there, but I did put some more all purpose Mobil grease at both sides of the ball. He also did happen to forget sending the bolts which was a bummer, but a quick trip to Ace and $5 solved the issue. Put the shifter in, bolted it up, and put the large boot and sound deadening over along with the console. After that installation was complete.
First impressions of the shifter was that it definitely felt more sturdy and short, but I didn't know how much compared to my old run of the mill eBay short shifter. I love the look too.
On the first drive I definitely noticed how short and nice it was. I opted for the longer 3" throw version because I had heard it was better for the 6 speeds but he does sell a 1.6" variant primarily for 5 speeds (it will work on 6s tho). I'm quite happy with even the longer throw version. I will say there is a slight vibration above 4k or so kind of like Wrilee said, but it's manageable when the car screams up there. The one other thing that is noticeable is hearing the gears whir more in the trans, but again that is only at elevated revs off throttle kinda thing. Most importanly, no clanking, stiffer feel, shorter throw, and a good shifter worth the money. It's quite a nice package and at only $280 I'd say it's well worth it. Obviously not sure how it'll be a year from now, but time will tell.
I just received the adapter and here are some pictures if anyone may need to do this later on in some sort of modified Miata etc.
It relocates the shifter rearward 7" from the original location. It reuses all the same bolts as the Miata was equipped with. Just the adapter is needed. Don't know who makes it, but there are numbers if that helps.

That looks like a very nice adapter. $50 is a steal compared to the work it would have taken to replicate that. I hope you share more of your Morgan build.

Does the shifter have any sloppiness after some driving? Does the gold part of the shifter have anything that is that may wear down or have something replaceable or is it something you cant service on your own
The effort is slightly harder than stock. Just more so notchy. I haven't looked into taking it apart but from what I've seen if you had snap ring pliers you'd be able to do it
Also posted on chr's thread, but have you run into synchro issues when trying to shift quickly/bang gears? That was my only gripe with this one in my 5spd a year ago and I'm debating what shifter to put on my new 6spd.
I have gotten the occasional slight grind when crossing gates to the next gear, but that was on super aggressive shifts. With the stock shifter I was still able to grind if I went fast enough. It was just harder with the stock one because of the increased throw you had to go through

Just ordered the shifter! Did the shifter leak or come with any sort of gasket that mounts to the shifter turret?
