Contemplating a move to TX in a year and researching turbo kits now. Can you pass inspections in Austin with a MegaSquirt, turbo, and no EGR? I've heard that inspector actually drives the car?

Any experiences?

 

Yeah you can pass if you have idle tuned correctly. If yours is obdI, then they will have to put it up on the rollers and do a sniffer test. If obdII and running with stock ecu as well, then they just plug it in. I know plenty of guys here in Houston that pass no problem.

Yes they do drive the car for a block or so to make sure everything works well like brakes and such.

 

Someone local could probably show you a "guy". $80 and they send the sticker to your house.

 

Your guy is cheaper than my friend's guy. Cost him $100

 

Bond doesn't pay his guy in money.

 

It's my understanding that Travis county is tougher than some.
