The stock turbos motors are archaic for tuning options. Matthewdesigns is local to me and has done the same thing I have in mind with his Miata. And turbo tom did as well with his Miata. I am looking at the NA motor as it is easily converted to work with the Mitsubishi electronics to make a nice, easy, affordable and proven transition for me. Again, can I help what my comfort zone is? The fab work is not an issue. Just asking around as this is the only Mazda forum I frequent as some projects here are interesting to me. Figuring out how to put this together is not an issue either. Looking for something to tinker with and go against the grain a little.

I'm not concerned about your comfort zone. You mentioned the BPT which is a BP variant that was put into 323s with a stock turbo system.
I'm giving you legitimate answers based on what you asked.
If your question is just whether to go with B6 or BP, go with BP. Tune with the somputer chip from your microwave if you want. Any transmission that will bolt to a B6 will bolt to a BP.

I know the older engines and turbo engines are stronger in stock form. That is not what i am looking for. I am looking for something that has the ability to utilize modern tuning practices. I have yet to see any old 323's, capris, proteges or anything of the sort that would satisfy a straight line guy like myself.

The B6 variants are a different overall length than the BP engines and may fit with less modifications into the diminutive Festiva chassis. I believe you will need a FWD intake to use with either engine in that chassis.
Any mouthbreather can make 1000hp with a turbo and a carburetor, but that doesn't make it "tuned". Likewise, a very rudimentary fuel injection system can operate a 1000hp engine very well at WOT. The difference between a good system and a poor one is the ability to tailor idle and transitional throttle accurately.
I don't usually give people a hard time but you are going to need to ease up on the attitude if you wish to use this forum's extensive archives moving forward. There are many resources here regarding the very things you are asking and we would be happy to share them with you if you are nice.

I think the issue a lot of people are having with you is you talk about how amazing you are but ask a lot of questions that could be answered with a simple search. Newb status, I was/am there. Search more talk less have fun here. Lots of good people.

Ignoring the fact that the op is a huge **** bag I dont see why the dsm ecu couldnt run an early B motor. Any of them with the cas are basically using all the same sensors, might have to mix and match the maf, and/or add a map and thats about it.
That said. The op should instead got an early B2600 that uses the 4G54 motor and put a cap on it for his dogs. Then he can stay in his DSM comfort zone.

I have asked it numerous times now. What do you folks know about the NA motor going into the shitbox known as a festiva? All the interwebs say the BPT and B6t are similar motor mounting and bellhousing patterns.

You need to lay off the keyboard a bit and do some reading.

Yep, he's got basic info on his website, and my build thread has some as well. But neither of us go into huge detail as there's not been much interest in using that ecu. I'm happy to share my pile of notes and photos with anyone who's curious, which I did a couple of years ago for a member here (who didn't follow through with the build).
