put it this way if it is "down" you can lean all about tuning and so on on an engine that is not perfect - so if it blows up you were already "expecting" and budgeting for it

the next engine will be even more awesome think of the internals you can add for the "surplus" of money or you can just paypal to me
"Surplus" of money might have been a slight exaggeration

update:

Did another compression today.

Similar results. Cyl 4 is awol. Did a wet psi and it went up so he deduced it was prob the rings.

Hes going to get back with me for my 3 options

1. Crate Motor
2. Low Miles Used Motor
3. Rebuild and Build current motor

I would have a leakdown test done to confirm its the rings. However depending on your power goals may be a good time to rebuild motor. Best thing about leak down will give you a better idea what is leaking. ex if intake valves will hear noise at intake filter, exhaust valves will hear at exhaust, piston rings or cylinder walls will hear at oil cap and oil dipstick if removed, or headgasket can see if radiator cap removed but does not appear to headgasket. Had a 1.6 built and shop supposedly vaccum tested head and said was all good. After a couple of months of driving with no boost and only a couple pulls at 7lbs of boost was having issues performed compression thought #3 cylinder didnt seat. Performed leakdown and was getting minor leakdwon from rings but primarily leaking from exhaust valves. What kind of power levels will do be looking for?
