My summer project was going to be buying a 1.8, bore .060 oversize, dif cams 10:1 pistons, lightweight cam shaft, port and polish the head, a mani like your display, and a few other little things... but it got to be that the price list was getting expensive... esp since im tryin to get my own appt and i just bought a brand new car... 17k cash and a 5k loan... so miata has taken a backseat prioirty unfort.

paul 01-08-2008 07:37 PM

sound like tokico illuminas

paul 01-08-2008 07:38 PM

dude, you better do some research. you don't want to go to 10:1 pistons with a turbo. you should go the other way. lower compression.

and whats this with a light weight cam? i have never heard of that. the diameter is so small i don't think the mass of the cam makes much difference.

1fastmiata 01-08-2008 07:41 PM

dumb question... how do you get a picture underneath you name..? i thought thats what i was doing but it ended up at the bottom of my posts

paul 01-08-2008 07:42 PM

you actually had one a few mins ago. anyway you pay. it's $3.50 to become a supporting member

this is the correct link https://www.miataturbo.net/forum/payments.php

1fastmiata 01-08-2008 07:43 PM

i made a mistake, not the cam shaft, the crank shaft ...lightweight crankshaft

Zabac 01-08-2008 08:01 PM

plus one on the tokicos...thats what i was thinking...
if you want to get faster on the trackand you already make lots of power i would say stay away from building another motor for nowcause a good suspension will be of bigger benefit to you...tokicos are not that great, they are on the cheap/low end
look into some Koni's (not konig) or some custom valved bilstein that come stock on some miatas...and then decide on your coilover set up, i sway towards the ground control perches and eibach springs that come with it...and then get your car corner weighted and your alignement set properly by someonethat knows what they are doing

Braineack 01-08-2008 08:06 PM

I'd compare the illuminums to the koni yellows.

it's not by any means a good race setup.

you need better dampening shocks with full suspension travel, increased spring rates, body stiffening, etc.

im telling ya, check out fatcatmotorsports.com, its a great place to start.

1fastmiata 01-08-2008 08:10 PM

whaaam, now that you mention koni, im pretty sure thats what they are, not konig. they are white coilovers with a red dial

1fastmiata 01-08-2008 08:11 PM

will do braineack!

Braineack 01-08-2008 08:12 PM

hmmm, where is the dial? snap a pic.

typically koni's are yellow. the white ones are race spec iirc.

1fastmiata 01-08-2008 08:16 PM

the dial is at the lower mount facing to the back of the car in the rear, i forget where the fronts are... i mostly adjust the rear... they have settings of 1-8

Zabac 01-08-2008 08:44 PM

koni's dont have numberes settings, its just a dial that you turn from stiffest to softest
and id say that koni's are far better than illuminas, at least durability wise

KYB AGX. That's what you are describing.

paul 01-08-2008 10:25 PM

but then he said they were white which would rule out KYB-AGX.

jayc72 01-08-2008 10:33 PM

Pictures.

paul 01-08-2008 10:36 PM

maybe he got the racist versions

jayc72 01-08-2008 10:38 PM

Kkk-yb?

paul 01-08-2008 10:41 PM

hahaha. lets see who that offends

Zabac 01-08-2008 10:50 PM

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TOKIC...spagenameZWDVW
the tokico's have a knob on top, so they are out...
and so are the KYB's they adjust on top as well
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-K...spagenameZWDVW
i do remember seeing some white shocks that had the knob on the shock body, it may be an older version of the tokico's which is what the one i have seen were (as well as my memory serves me)
