Sorry, I meant a leak-down, not a compression test. The leak down can tell you where the leak is. Leak down is the brains of the bunch, compression is the dumb test.

i'm dumb though, so a compression test to start and when results come back with shitty compression, onto leakdown. lol

Restore claims to help with compression, free horse power, nightly ********, yada yada yada but I figured I'd give it a shot last oil change. I don't have any compression numbers to compare but it definitely smokes less now. Mine smokes a little at high rpms but I can tell a noticable difference after using it. By no means is it a fix but seems to help with smoke atleast.

If you are NA, I would stay away from machine shops as much as possible. Try to keep all same components, assuming head is fine just do rings, bearings, seals, HG and done with it.
