Default Blew the "Ignition key" fuse

I blew my 40A Ignition key fuse/relay when trying to start the car after taking the engine out and putting it back in.

Anyone know where to get a replacement?

Any suggestions on possibilities? I had the battery hooked up to a portable starter since my battery was a bit low on juice.

I assume that you have a '99 or '00 car, yes?

Did any other fuses also blow?

So far as I can tell, there is only one circuit in the whole car which is fed by the 40A key fuse, without also being fed through a second, much smaller fuse. That would be the circuit which goes from the ST position of the keyswitch, through the clutch interlock switch, to the starting solenoid. It's a wht/blk wire between the keyswitch and the clutch interlock switch, and a blk/red wire between that and the starter solenoid.

If that wire were pinched / cut / shorted, then the fuse would pop the instant you turned the key and depressed the clutch. Ditto if the starter solenoid were shorted internally.

So those would be the areas I'd be looking at / disconnecting things from.

Replacement fuses should be available at any auto parts store- it's not a terribly uncommon one for Asian cars.

Much appreciated Joe, Its a 99. I have looked at that diagram, but haven't got around to it yet. I just needed to make sure I could find that fuse locally otherwise my plans for the track are shot. I will update once I have it worked out.

might have been a fluke, I had the interlock switch disconnected and was pressing it in by hand. Only thing I can think of is I may have nicked the chassis with the back of it and blew the fuse that way.

I have been trying to start the car all day with no luck (but no more blown fuses).
