I blew a stock tranny beating the hell out of it with stock power. I never broke anything when I had a blower or a 75 shot of nitrous. How you drive it matters more than the power level, JMHO

Hmmmmm..... strange things the transmissions are.

I have been drifting for the past 5yrs. In my 96, i never had a problem with the tranny from drifting. But i did obliterate 2nd when racing a 300z tt. But i replaced that tranny and never had a problem again.

Then, in my 99, i was simply driving down a back road and dropped from 5th to 4th and i heard a slip (like a clutch slip). So i pulled over and disvocered that 2nd was gone..... and that ended up taking the rest of the trans with it within a week. Replaced and have since done a LOT of drifting/hard driving with no problems.Though i do hear a good bit of whine through my short shifter... but im betting that hast to do more with the solid sifter bushings then the trans itself.

On a side note, i am hearing a minor clanking from my car. It only does it when the car is in neutral and making a full-lock turn..... like turning into a marking spot. I hope its not the diff (96 4:10 torsen).... but the diff has like 250,000mi on it lol

you gotta remember when your tires are slipping drifting theres no power transmitted back through the drivetrain. Its the launch that kills you

I dunno, we'll see how many more hard clutch kicks with my 6 puck the stock tranny can take.

they suck if they have to drop the clutch to get a boosted car to break loose in a turn

I'd rather hand-ball a leather daddy than go drifting.
