I dropped by Earl's Performance Plumbing (Anplumbing.com) today. Hyperactive doesn't begin to describe the guy. Let's just say he's dedicated to the fine art of creating the perfect steel braided fuel line set-up. I went in and basically repeated word for word what Ben suggested I needed. Since he doesn't carry -5 AN connections, he asked me what kind of adaptors I'll need to convert everything to -6 AN. I looked at him like a deer in headlights, at which point he suggested (nicely) that I need to:
1) Go home and do my homework.
or
2) Bring in all the parts so he can take a look at what kind of connections I would need.
I convinced him that I had done all the reading I was going to do and that I wasn't going to be able to bring in my fuel rail and hardlines without my Miata attached to it so he could measure the size and look at the positions of the hose attachments for the proper fittings. So, I can do the next best thing. Call ahead on a Saturday when he's usually not busy and I can bring my car down so he could look at everything in the parking lot and suggest a set-up.

It is going to be tuff getting around -5AN line, because the fuel nipples are 5/16"(-5AN), and 3/8" (-6AN) won't seal against it. In all other cases, you can supplement -6AN without much issue.

Yeah. Unfortunately I've been learning about my car by trial and error. Basically, I stumble and bumble around, sometimes buying parts that don't fit, and mostly learning the hard way.
I may just end up going your route Michael.
