Default Can you cutout trunk for passenger access?

You know, like on a Corvette C5, the passenger compartment and trunk have no boundary. I though, why can't I just take an angle grinder to that annoying metal between me an infinite trunk space goodness!!?? Maybe the structural integrity of the car will be greatly diminished, or maybe there is something there that would need rerouted or is possibly a gigantic obstacle that makes this all impossible? NB Miata if that matters... thanks you for any inquiries

You can still cut out some of the stuff. Read through the ls3miata thread by scaxx. He has some pictures of what he chopped out but he is also running a fastback.

He replied in 8 minutes and you already had the grinder in the car? Good thing Erat didn't go to the bathroom before looking at the forum.

You'd have to do some serious thinking to restore the structural regidity you just wacked out as well, and by the time you do that, how much room do you gain? A couple of inch's can mean a lot for driving position, but a bunch of work as well. I'd look at modding the pedals first, and seat rake; that can also equal the couple of inch's a hell of a lot easier.

Well, lets go all out, and slice out the inner wheel wells, relocate the gas tank in the passenger footwell, and make a camper out of the poor car.
