you guys ever use anything like this? I was going to make up but for the price of the material its cheaper to get it from them harbor freight. If you find some place cheaper let me know, but i bet these are the cheapest.. Yeah harbor freight

I don't have anything like what you pictured, but if I have to move a car around into a difficult area I use a floor jack.

 

I think for that price you would be better off building your own. I've seen the wheels on those collapse. I don't know, those may be ok, but if it were me, I would build my own as I know they would be a lot stronger, and I already have the wheels to use. (cast iron wheels w/solid ruber tires)

 

^What he said. I use to work at Harbor Freight, from what I remember those car dollies didn't look very good.

 

for the money 140$ a set i doubt you do any better. It has what look to be stainless casters and solid rubber tires. + they rate each dolly for 1000 lbs so if the vehicel is 4000lbs or less you should be fine.

 

thats what Im thinking, and i wont be working under the car when I use them if they fail back to habor freight they go

If i get casters rated for 250lbs each that are around $10.50 from mcmaster carr i am already more expensive than these.

 

If anyone wants a set of these in the MD/DC area, I've got a set. I never used them as I finished my previous engine install before I needed them. They've been sitting in my shed for a year now. They're heavy and beefy and I couldn't see them failing.

You could also get some repoman style Go Jacks. You just slide them around the tire, step on teh kick pedal a few times and hte car is ready to move. They're pretty heavy duty aluminum units, but they're expensive. However they work great and will last a long time.
