Sounds like it just pulls timing in one fixed chunk whenever it detects any boost. MSD / Sebring, anyone?

Gotta hand it to the PowerCard guys for slick packaging and good marketing copy, but the engineering behind the product seems like another loss.

So, original PC PRO cooled the charge, since it's an intercooler, so this one must cool the spark! Imagine the HP potential... I could see frozen over sparkplugs from being too agressive with it.

I like how it shows pre-ignition in the diagram, not detonation.

no no no, its when the piston is forced down before finishing the rotation. holy ****, you think you'd really want your timing control developers to undestand ignition timing terminology.

OMFG, what a douche

Not really sure I personally deserve the credit, but am fine with being singled out.

The catfight is getting better. Check out the last few postings to see Jason really going off the deep end insofar as reading comprehension is concerned.

I honestly can't see why he's so hung up on these PowerCard products. It's not like Moss invented the damn things...

edit: boy, was I wrong about that last sentence... Read on.

We were posting at the same time there Joe, but mostly said the same thing.

I think they have 2 interests in the product:
1 financial gain
2 it's simple enough for them to psuedo understand it

And probably they also have some sort of semi exclusive deal from the manufacturer.

I wonder how many of those timming cards they will sell after what Ben and Perez said....

You guys made good points. I won't be surprised at all if there's a newer version of that card in the near future that does look at vaccum and RPM.

As far as band-aids go, it's always seemed like anything "PowerCard" is the worst. The guy has no idea what he's talking about either, just reading from his product specs apparently.

Actually, someone over on the other list PM'ed me with an interesting fact. Check out the "contact us" page on PowerCardTuning's website:
http://www.powercardtuning.com/support/contact_us.aspx

They're a front for Moss motors! It actually makes sense to me now- Who are the two companies that sell PC products? Moss and the old Jackson Racing. Who is the only "vendor" that "distributes" JR Products? Moss.

Which led me to check out Jackson Racing's website a bit. What is Jackson Racing's street address?
440 Rutherford Street Goleta, CA- same as Moss and PowerCard. (By JR, I'm referring to the original Sebring design, not Oscar's new centrifugal vaporware company down here in Riverside)

I can't believe I never put 2+2 together on all this before. I also can't believe Moss didn't just come out with an improved version of the BTC, rather than ditching it in favor of this new PC TimingThingy.

They'll still sell tons. The people in the market to buy those things are like lemmings. And I apparently am no different than a dog, peeing on anything that smells like a PowerCard to protect my territory.

But it would be great if PowerCard did come out with a V2.0 that was based of a 2D lookup table instead of the current 1D table. What's their retail, $300? Still wouldn't be a great value for those of us that are more competent, but would still be very easy to use and not a bad product at all.

Yeah, to be honest I kinda hope that they do. For one thing, you & I came come back and say "we told you so."

More importantly however, as I said over in the catfight, I really think that the TimingThingy could have been the modern successor to the ACU for the 01+ cars, if only they'd not gotten lazy at the last moment.

Now that makes a lot of sense explaining the way that Jason acts.

Looks like the MSRP for TimingThingy® is $300 standalone or $225 to kit owners. If Moss/PC/JR tweaked the firmware and re-released at $250 flat, they'll sell a ton, and probably take all of the Bipes' ($230) market share on the 90-97 cars too. I think most people will forgo the Bipes' 3rd variable (temp) for the Card's slick push button interface.
