Cast turbo manifolds
#4
In all seriousness some people are using Subaru TD04 style turbos on these cars and there is currently no cast manifold that supports them.
The common turbos are garret T25 flange but there are already well respected manifolds for those turbos and a fair number in the used market for a reasonable price.
So you can either put out an also-ran manifold or you can innovate and be the only out of the box solution. You pick.

Wondering if theres a bit of demand for cast turbo manifolds?, if so, what model turbos are most commonly used?

Miata turbo is the only forums in the entire world that would rag on a business for asking if there is interest in a product giving people a voice and a chance to get something they are seriously interested in.
Should just be happy that someone is interested in making a product for 20+ year old car.
Mind blowing how shitty these forums are...but then again i keep clicking the link when bored on break at work so i guess thats my fault.

We already have 5/6 cast manifolds on the market for 1.8 Miata's. I don't really see the need for any more. Especially for what it costs to get them made correctly. And unless you are going to be selling a downpipe to go with it, the manifold alone is sort of pointless.

A cast for a td04 would be something never done before and surely there is a market for.
And a matching downpipe would be a win.

Would people pay 400+ for them though? When there's perfectly good t2 manifolds ranging from 80-550 in all sorts of configurations, and with downpipes to match?
I think a lot of people like the idea of certain things, or welcome them in theory, but when the rubber meets the road, the market is nowhere near as good as it seems.
It's not gonna cost 50 bux to bring these to market. The only time you can pull that off is when you're making a knockoff with all the design/engineering already done, and then outsourcing to china for the casting, with no QC. Like the OG FM/Begi knockoffs that recently hit ebay
