Default COPS not starting

Like the title says. I have a 1.6. I removed the ignitor because I don't have a spare and wired directly. I've quadruple checked the wiring from my car to my harness and to the pins on my ignitors. They all check out according to the schematic provided by Lazzar for the 1.6. I checked the connections with a voltmeter and I'm getting a strong 12v to each ignitor and the tach connections are seeing 11.2v. I'm seeing no power to the triggers when I crank the motor.

What am I missing?

Thanks!

you would need an o-scope to determine that the triggers were not powered during cranking.

most likely, the trigger pairs are backwards, if the wiring is otherwise competent.

I'm grounded to the head and the black wire on the miata harness. I tried a couple of different locations on the head but I'll double check the o ring connection. I tried switching the triggers and got nothing.

Could the coils be bad? They are all part #90080-19015 but I sourced them from two different yards. For general info, how would I know if they are bad?

Still no go. I rewired my stock ignitor, reconnected my stock coils and plug wires and it fired right up. I'll try again with the PnP wiring as soon as I can source an extra ignitor.

Just to clear somethings up:

I used this schematic to wire my harness. Seemed simple enough:

Brain's Sticky had this picture. Wiring seems a bit more involved:

Are the connections in Brain's picture just an explanation of the stock wiring?

With the PnP method, are you still wiring 5 wires from the COPS through the ignitor onto the pins for the Miata's Black, Blue, Brn/Yl, Brn, and Blk/Wt & Yl/Blu wires according to Lazzer's schematic?

Thanks again.

I believe there is a transposition on that picture. Scott, you may want to chime in here.

The terminal labeled "3" (which is C in the FSM and on the igniter body) having the blue wire- This is the +12 supply to the igniter. It would be hijacked to supply +12 to all four coils, not just 1 & 4.

The terminal labeled "8" (H) with the red wire is, in the stock configuration, the (-) side of the 1 & 4 coil going to ground through the igniter driver- it does not touch 2 & 3.

Brain will have to chime in here, but something to note is that the harness wires for 1-WHT and 8-RED are not used at all for COPs.
