im not sure how many people have researched to see how well the cowl hood works........but what about this technique i came across.

does anyone know if this would work just as well as any other extra hood like erebuni?

And that hood isn't drawing air out, its pulling it in, right at the motor. Not really of much use.

 

and ignore the ugly body kit please. haha. not trying to go for that look......just wondered about the hood

 

 

i have no clue.....found it in someones myspace. but the rear end and center portion of the cowl hood is raised up to let out air, so i figured maybe the scoop in the front would help the air flow going through it.

if i remember right, i think FM was trying to scoop their hood also, but cut it wrong. i dont know if they were going for this look or not

But yah, cowls pull from the low pressure area at the bottom of the windshield. Openings like the first car bring air directly in and are only usefull for a ram-air type setup.

Looks good! Notice any changes with it, or did you do any comparison testing with it? Been considering one for a while. I'm ok with the extraction style hood, but would rather have a Simpson Cowl Hood on my car if it works well enough.

 

Fit was dead on *****.... but I'm picky in that aspect.
Temps at the back of the head have been rock solid at 210 degs.
I don't have coolant re-route, nor do I have a heater core. A failsafe needs to be addressed in that department.
I know it pulls more air at window because I have to cover the fresh air inlet on brisk days, or my daughter won't ride in it.
Didn't do that with stocker.

I'm with ya there.......I'd prolly have the extraction hood on there, but this came up and at a great deal.

 

Good to know, I'm extrememly picky there as well. Thanks for the input! I think that just settled on what hood I'll be getting when I redo the body. Now to lay in wait for a deal to come up.

yea, i thought it was just a modified simpson hood that i had found. but i always had thought the raise was to let out the hot air across the windshield. hahaha wow
