Not necessarily, mine had virtually no wear. If it is worn, you can machine down the case or put in oversize washers ($30) to make up the difference.

sweet, i just ordered my correct LSD from 915 Racing. Should be a 3.909 ratio, can't wait to throw it all together. Luckily I have a few local guys that can do my backlash....Y8s and Rappadan.

Going to be a nice season this year, im going to abuse the crap out of it.

Yeah, but the thing is, if you're going to take the entire thing apart, you might as well replace the washers and friction discs anyway.

hang on hang on... you want to swap the 3.9 into a 4.3 housing? that's a lot more work than just setting backlash by swapping meatball into your existing pinion housing.

I haven't done pinion depths and ****.

what's the whole housing you have now?

yeah i thought about that as i did more research....I'm going to see if my other buddy can't do that as well or might just stick with the miata ring-gear and call it a day.

You would need 3.6 gear set to cruse at 80/3500. The 3.9's are at about 4000rpm at 80.

You are right, for free not a lot you can say about it.
I have been lucky in my cars, and most have had LSDs.
