I just got my hands on a 2002 SE, but cant afford to turbo it for at least a year. first things first (under the hood). Ive narrowed the chice of intakes down to the Monsterflow with a box, or the DDMWorks stage 2. Does anyone have any personal experiance with one or both of these? Has anyone dynoed either of them? Any and all input here will help me out for the next years worth of tooling around.

Neither. Take the money you would have spent on the intake, put it in an interest bearing savings account, money market account, cd, etc, then apply it towards the purchase of a turbo kit when ready.

 

sell it, get an NA, turbo it, then have money left over for gas for a few months

 

Agreed. Be patient or it'll take a lot longer to get the turbo.

 

the thing is, wile im 'tight' on cash now, in one year, that will not be the case at all. in the mean time, im playing with the idea of some noise comming from under the hood. i just lost my 92 b&t, and she was set up very nicely with, among many other things, a jr cai. the gains were very pleasurable for me, as was the noise.

to sum it all up, i know saving is the best way to end up with the turbo- but im also pleased with small gains. so im just curious about the two products.

i my self was going to buy an exhaust, intake, some lowering springs,

instead, i waited 4 months, saved every penny, and now im boosted,

trust me,, wait it out, save , and the all at once,

 

I'd say save your money for a turbo kit as well. Hell, for as much as those pricy intakes cost, you might could scope up a used nitrous kit on eBay and maybe make a little more power.

 

FWIW I have a Monsterflow and like it. It was purchased by the previous owner of a friends car, car sold to my friend, then intake was given to me. After I had it on my car for a few months it broke, moss refused to honor the warranty on the intake, even though it said nothing about non transferable, and I had the original sales receipt. Contacted Monsterflow and they were more than happy to replace it free of charge.

Mine has the heat shield which was like 60$ from Moss.. for a piece of aluminum... It works, though and it was free. I like it.

 

hmmm.... im starting to think that the first thing ill do is get some koni coilovers- save up and design the turbo.

now that we are on to suspension, i was thinking about the koni coilovers, and the eibach coilovers. I assume there is a lot of support here for the koni's, but how about the eibach? anyone have anything to say about those?

I know I wont really go wrong with either, but one cant help but ponder the next upgrade.

 

I considered the Eibach, but they're pretty expensive for non-adjustable dampening.

Honestly I've settled on JIC's entry level 8 way adjustable, which are 1200 to your door.
