Default Did I just lose a 5 spd ?

Same result with clutch and without clutch.
Using a Miata Roadster short shift kit and pulled it apart to make sure the cup is in place and everything else is install in the correct order. Didn't help.

What do you guys think ? Time to hit the salvage yard for another 5 spd ?

Your shifter is installed incorrectly. It's supposed to point to the left, not back. Is that on purpose?

Good eye UrbanSoot. Its actually a custom piece I asked them to make. The same style as "revlimiter" / sharka.

Yup .. seems to confirm bent shift fork. Thanks 18psi. Should I expect the other 4 gears to have issues soon as well ? Reason I ask is because this is mostly autox / cars&coffee car so don't really NEED 5th. Might run this for a bit until it really blows up.

Turns out it was a clutch hydraulic issue ?

Thinking it was the actual trans that failed .. I was planning on keeping the 'broken' 5 speed until after a double header AX event this weekend .. but clutch felt funny on my test drive a few days ago so today swapped master / slave and took it back out for another test.
For fun, tried to throw into 5th .. and wtf .. it went in easily ?!

Shocked but am not complaining. Thinking about it though, I can't imagine the mechanics of why a failing / failed master slave would cause issue for me only with 5th. Test was done both with and without clutch ... so strange.

Not being able to put it into a specific gear with the engine off means literally nothing.

Hey Andrew, I actually first noticed 5th wasn't working while driving however all the follow up testing ( including making the video ) has been with the car off. I actually haven't tested 5th with a running car again until today.

Had a problem with my 5-speed, wouldn't go into 5th, just like hitting brick wall.

Changed the oil in the box, same same. Pushed harder, REALLY harder, it eased in. Worked it a few times, it improved each time until after half a dozen tries it was back to normal, maybe even better. Concluded that the synchros were the issue.

Been fine since.

FWIW, nothing in the oil that came out of the box, no bits of metal etc.

ETA: Above 'pushing' was undertaken while moving.
