Wow. Nice job Stephanie! One more thing - how about drilling/tapping the reroute setup for a REAL temp gauge sensor?

That is entirely possible.

Maybe I don't get it, but there's something all wrong with the reroute.

The Main Water Line should come out of the back - so did Begi

The main Waterline should be placed AFTER the Thermostat to prevent a too long cold running of the engine... but Begi left it all open to allow cycling of water through the heater...

The whole concept seems to be wrong (beside full race applications)
So there seems no sense to me to make production pieces for the miata growd

This is the way I did it:

Actually, the reroute it not complete. We are running a thermostat at each end with a radiator feeding each thermostat.

The jury is still out on where the heater taps into the system.

Default Latest Updates...

New pics of the radiator install and (more importantly) the downpipe and exhaust. (Yes, dual cats)

However, ignore the oil-cooler pics. We are relocating it due to the final position of the radiators and the addition of the front lip spoiler.

Several of the bits are getting powder coated while this weekend we plan to get ducting and the muffler together.

With any luck, we'll have it on the road within the next 30-days...

Magnaflow 2.75" Metallic Core Cats.
The wastegate was given to us by Synapse Engineering. We are going to test it on the Miata Application.

Looks cool.

Now *that* is a beautiful downpipe. And I notice that the WG return has been kept separate all the way down and returned after the cats. Very cool idea.

so what diameter are the two pipes leading to the cats, according to corcky, you should not step down at any time, so the cat back has to be as big as the two pipes together...does anyone know what the cat-back is like?

I would expect the "cat back" to be equal to the diameter of the downpipe (pre cat Y) plus the diameter of the external gate pipe.

So what does this re route basically do? Take the coolant line thats under the manifold and pipe it around the other side of the engine?

Feed into the cats at 2.75", with a 3" collector. We'll be tapping into a 500-hp rated muffler with dual tips for the exhaust. (Should have pics on the site this week.)

According to his calculations, Corky figures back pressure should be cut by a factor of 4. For reference, he measured 5-psi back pressure on an MSM running 9-psi boost.

As to the question about the coolant reroute, the taps on the side of the head will be fed via the electric water pump to offer better cooling to the middle and rear of the head.

The Hex Mobile is coming together nicely. I have been hitting it hard the past few days. Gotta love winter break from classes. I think there is a photo shoot scheduled for tomorrow of the progress and maybe stephanie can get some of the new pics uploaded soon. We are not far from turning the key on that monster.
