Default Difference in Axles 90-93 VS 94

How can you differentiate the 2 piece axles visually?

Do 1.6 stub shaft have ears and 1.8s don't?

Difference in diameter at the splines?

Seller gave me axles(supposedly 1.8) but when I placed the stub in the 1.8 diff, it wouldn't even spin the diff. The splines were too short and the shaft was not long enough.

Pretty sure the newer ones have more teeth and are bulkier.

Here's more info:

The 94 axles have a larger flange at the base, otherwise a 94-95.5 axle should be identical to a 90-93.
