Dropped valve spring keeper down oil drain pass
#21
Oil drains from the head empty out in the upper corners of the crankcase. If the crank is halfway between TDC and BDC it could have landed on the crank, from there if you start the engine it would get flung off and could land anywhere.
As I said, it's an unlikely worst case scenario. It's much more likely that it's sitting on the windage tray.

It was at almost tdc and I was working on cyl 4 so the crank should have been tucked in out of the way
Ok all things considered, I’ve got a new keeper and I’m continuing work on it today. The engine sat for a couple days without having been started when I began. So barely any oil residue in the drain passes, and I heard it clank 3 or 4 times on its way down.
Pretty clean fall Strait to the pan I’m sure.
Im sure of this but anyway I’m Gonna feather the starter a couple times for precaution before startup
I made a valve spring compressor like the FM one on a friends old school Miller machine. because I didn’t have enough $ for it after the oem valve seals
