Well. If the stock fans fit, are you sure these couldn't be a bit further back? Or did you add the swaybar and brace after doing these fans? Any pics of the brace? (never heard of one, lol) I can't remember off the top of my head, but the stock fans are 1.25 or 1.5" off the radiator on my stock 99'. But they also have very good shrouding too.

bringin dis' back from da dead.

The stock fans didn't really fit. The blades themselves were mabye 1/8" away from rubbing the RB brace. I had to HEAVILY trim the fan shrouds down to clear the brace. The Spals are thinner, so they are further away from the radiator than the stock fans, but only because the blades themselves are thinner.

if I could get my fans to work, I'd install the slims and make a shroud.

didn't a discussion about diy shrouds vs stock shrouding occur?

and i thought the consensus (then at least) was that the stock fan shrouds were a great solution

They work great, provided you have room for them. I didn't, and my shrouds were a total hackjob when they were in. These are also sealed to the rad, which means the higher CFM fans are also more efficient at the same time.

I work on a lot of miatas. I haven't worked on one where I didn't have to trim the stock rad shroud when combined with the RB sway bar brace and a non OEM radiator.

I like the setup you're running, Sav. You have lots of fitment issues because the top tank on your radiator is mega fail! Hustler has the same radiator and I disliked it a lot when I was installing it.
