I forgot to add the K&N air filter will come off and pantyhose will go on (the car)

Also I am looking at running in the 15: 1 - 16:1 range for about 1 hour

Talking

Got about an hour of dyno time in at the same dyno I went to before.

New Power Results: 233 rwhp @ 11 psi (spike to 14, and hard fall to 11)

Here's my emissions plot:

Excellent news

What'd you end up doing to get decent numbers for emissions?

And for some comparison, here's Rob's Allowables for his 90

Look how much less stringent his allowed pollutants are! His is a 90 and mine is a 91.

Please don't compare my actual readings to his and pass judgements one way or the other. We have entirely different set ups. I was only pointing out how his alloweds are substantially larger than mine.

I was also too lean on the emissios dyno. Pulled too much, whoops. That's why my NOx is so high. But passing.

Damn i don't see how they could jestify that wasn't there virtualy no emmisions change until the 93 california moddle? Or is this just a age/mileage question?

-Timing back at about stock
-Leaned out the load zones at 15mph and 25mph

I was MUCH leaner on the dyno than on the street. I was on stoich on the street, and at during the 25mph test, it was 15-16:1. On the 15mph test it was 18:1. I added in a little fuel while it was running, went to 17:1. I was going to add more fuel in, when the test ended. A few seconds later, the results were on the screen: Pass.

They dyno operator told me that the way the dyno loads is it puts you against 50% of your stock rated whp for the 25 test and 25% of your stock whp for the 15 test.

And now on to fix the next nightmare: my drivers' window decided to stop rolling down.

Two out of three is good

This was with -5 from the timing and -10 on the fuel

I will have to get out the laptop and take -10 from the timing and -20 from fuel. Then adjust the WB O2 settings all to 66 (15.1 or so)
You are failing on HydroCarbons--which is unburned fuel in the exhaust. How's your ignition system? Fresh plugs? Gapped right? I don't know what units your readings are in, but seeing how you're nearly 3x the limit, something's either wrong in the ignition system or you're really really rich--so rich that you know you're too rich when you're driving it.

Get your timing close to stock, maybe just slightly retarded. Don't get carried away, as too retarded means unburned fuel in the exhaust, which means more HC's. You want your fuel mix ***** on 14:7:1. More fuel will mean elevated HC's. Less fuel will mean elevated NOx.

Leaning the whole table by cutting master fuel is the wrong way to go. You need to lean out only the cells that are called upon during the test. When you're tuning, turn off any auto correction/ EGO correction. You also need to be running sequential injection if you're not already.

It's also my understanding that the Link uses the NB sensor to tune out cruise

I passed today as well total of 6 times, with two passes today

Final marks where

HC 0.4751 (just pass is 0.5)

CO 2.5409 (pass is 9.3320)

NOx 0.7180 (pass is 1.2400)

My settings are "Link Talk"

Master Fuel to 90 (daily running 104)

Timing reduces by 40 (that would be - 10 deg)

WB AEM Set to 60 to 64 (that would be 16:1 to about 14:1)

This kept the Link from adding more fuel (LAMBDA)

And took off the K&N air filter and on pantie hoses.

Added 1 liter of methyl hydrate

After the PASS the guys in there where joking with me about them seeing me more than their boss.

They also asked me to open the hood, something they are not allowed to do, as they wanted to see what was under the hood (GT2560/BEGi).

The two guys who did the test used to work in Tuner shops, mainly Honda's and talking with them I said I have to rush home to save my MAP settings and load back in my regular MAPs, we had a good laugh at that one.

Next project is to get the Boost set to 12 (14) PSI, it is still set at 0 as I know have passed 500 mile on the motor.

Ben thanks for your help on this, I know the MAP needs some work to lower the HC (WB set to 14:1 (66)) but hey a pass is a pass and I am still working on the tuning for daily driving.

screw that hassle, i guess ill swap back to 1.6 injectors, throw the oem ecu and AFM back on and yank out the check engine light bulb. I really dont want a failed smog test on the cars record.

That's exactly why you failed.... and exactly why I failed too. I thought 14:1 was close enough. It isn't.
I'd take it too. Oh, wait I did

Rye, sucks dude but that sounds like the smart move. There aren't any real consequences here for failing emissions, other than you cant re-register until you pass.

My second last test, before the pass had interesting numbers

HC 0.2711 (pass is 0.5)

CO 0.3352 (pass is 9.3320)

NOx 1.4941 (fail is 1.2400)

I knew I leaned it out to much, but with the HC & CO that low I knew I had room to play.

Ben how much tuning have you done outside of boost?

I basically set my autotune on every time I drove. Made a couple of datalogs to make sure I was near my targets and that was it.

An emissions passing tune is a good tune for daily driving anyway since it's not in boost and not power oriented. You can just leave your nonboost tune as-is now, and you'll pass next year no prob.

Those low speed ranges were more or less 14:1 and my highway cruise ranges were more or less 15:1-16:1. I was getting 22 mpg or so, mostly stop n go, little highway, plenty of boost.

I never could get the autotune function to work properly.

It is actually a touch lean now at low speeds, light throttle (get some surging). But I've got the MSQ saved. I'll put the timing back to agressive and add a little extra fuel to smooth it out.

Overall, I'm just happy to be done with the ordeal.

It's yearly here. Get this:
We had cheap, annual tests ($15). The stations were government ran. The system was privatized, cost was increased to $25, but to offset it, emissions became mandated to every other year, instead of every year. That lasted less than a year, before the law changed back to every year again.

The whole thing is a JOKE. I'm not going to say that cars don't polute (they do), but the governemnt is cracking down on sources of minimal polution, when they should be going after sources of major polution. But they wont. Private citizens have no power in this form of 'demorcacy'.

but ben, major power corporations making power from coal can afford lobbyists so it wouldn't be fair to crack down on them! Besides, our nation is struggling to make enough power for the grid as it is and nuclear energy is way out of line for replacing these coal plants because they make some highly toxic waste that can be stowed away in completely uninhabited and way out of the way toxic waste dumps. Coal just spews a bunch of **** in the air and does not bother anybody

there was no sarcasm in that either.

Default eMission: 1 year later

Blinding success!! Passed on the first try on Hi Res with a new Enthuza cat and exhaust. I did not do any additional tuning or pull any timing or anything.

FWIW, Ben, America's never been a democracy. The worlds last democracy was in Athens. We live in a republic.
