MY miata has been using oil and coolant. Driving up a mountain pass my car started getting hot . It then started loosing power and I had to pull over. there was coolant spraying from the back of block. It lost most the coolant from here. My oil was low too even tho I topped it off this morning. The car would crank over but would.not stay idleing. Im waiting for a tow truck right now. Pretty sure its a bad headgasket. Would a bad hg cause oil loss. Also it would smoke blue on start up.

I dont know if it is the same for an 1.6 but I had a leaking CAS sensor on my 1.8. Leaking oil on one of the heater hoses creating a leak there. Could explain both symptoms.

 

back of block? there is a rubber nipple on the back of the head that can leak. It is on passenger side, check that out for the coolant leak.
