Default Fuel Pump Stopped Working, Relays/Fuses Are Good: Solution

I have already solved this issue but did not see any posts directly addressing the solution and wanted to add a quick reference in case it saves someone some troubleshooting.

I had installed a DW300 fuel pump and the DW hardwire upgraded relay kit and have been running those for some time. Last week I was driving my miata, parked it, and when I tried to start it up, the fuel pump would not prime.

I could hear the OEM relay click, jumping the FP at the diagnostic box did nothing, both OEM and DW relays seemed to work, and the fuel pump worked when bench-tested.

As it turns out, due to hardwiring the pump to the battery, the amount of current seems to be a little high for the fuel pump/sender connector at the top of the fuel tank. It was difficult to notice, but the pin supplying power had slightly melted the connector over time and lost connection. For the moment, I just fiddled with the connector, plugged it back in, and it ran again, however, I guess you could install some form of inline resistor to prevent the issue from recurring (I am not an electrician).

TLDR: If you install a DW upgraded FP relay kit, you may melt your pump/sender connector.
