Default Good Soft Tops

Who are some good manufacturers of soft tops. Is it possible to get decent tops for around 200 bucks.

daveshouze still sells no zip plastic window tops for $179 or $189. I've installed two of them-one plastic and one glass window. No problems.

The cost is a little higher, but Robbins tops are quality pieces. (Just don't go for their 3-window top, the frame rails will rub the side windows.)

look for used tops form a 99 and up miata OEM is good and you can find them with the full frame .. makes it a 1 hour job to change. look on here or craigs list or ebay or if your lucky a junk yard will have a wrecked miata with a good top and frame.

I got mine for $160 with a 5yr warranty. It's not the greatest design ever, but it works well. Only complaint I had about it is the sides don't get screwed to the frame so it wrinkles a bit on the sides.

+1 Check out Robbins on Moss Motors. I've had both the premium style top and the regular vinyl replacement, both are excellent quality. There's cheaper ones around sure, but its worth it in my opinion to get a good one.

Robbins makes great tops, but they're out of the $200 price range. The only decent tops in that range would be used tops off of an NB or even a recently replaced/good condition top off of a wrecked NA. Call around to the wrecking yards, I guess.

Heard lots of great things about daveshouze, I bought one from him but haven't installed it yet. The brand he sends out is "Kee" auto tops.

do you need to reuse the stock rainrail with the ebay tops or do you just leave it off alltogether?

a shop quoted me at 595 bucks to buy one and put it on, everything, but hell, if i can save 400 bucks i'm all for it.

depends on which top you get. They make them with rain rail installed. The one I installed had no rain rail, but I was able to salvage the stock one. You need to be really careful with the stock rain rail since it's cheap *** plastic that is very brittle. If you can drill out the rivets while the top is still on the car, you don't have to worry about breaking it since you can just peel down the inside rubber and release the top, keeping the rain rail installed. They also make a rain rail that doesn't suck for $170. Made of silicone or something that's actually durable and has a lifetime warranty. Probably well worth the money: unbreakable miata rain rail, top tensioning cables

I have a duetto motors top I put on my car with the non zip glass rear. **** is really nice quality. I also has the unbreakable rainrail which is sort of a rubber version of the oem piece, ie not made of shitty plastic. Also I didn't waste my time riveting the new rain rail to the top, I just slipped it on the studs and bolts it down with the top. Works great!

I have a good condition top on the 99 that I am parting out. The rain rail may need to be replaced (car has quarter damage and it looked like the shop that did the estimate may have cracked the rain rail when pulling the top back in that area). I am close enough that we could meet up and not have to deal with shipping. PM me if interested.
