Sigh...Back OT: Miatamaniac, sorry to hear about the accident. If you're looking to keep the car and a claims adjuster hasn't seen it already, first wash & thoroughly detail the car then borrow a hard top from someone and put it on. It'll add $1200 to the value of your car. Also I'd suggest not contacting your insurance company since they won't factor in the value of mods unless specifically added to the coverage. Contact the guilty party's insurance company first and hope for a good claims adjuster.

I was involved in a rear-end collision & I lucked out: The adjuster was a car guy & was really cool. I showed him all the mods & explained to him I didn't want the car totaled. He worked with me to make sure it wasn't. I ended up getting a $5000 check to fix my '95 with 140,000 mi. With a little shopping around I was able to get the damage fixed and my whole car painted for $3000.

i do paint and body work for a living pretty easy fix pull it out mud it in reshoot the quarter panel you'll be good to go.
if you do it yourself and allready have a compressor pick up a sata spray gun. kinda pricy but well worth it. it will lay down the metalics alot better than others guns and still shoot the clear nice and flat with very little texture.
another gun of choice is an iwata lph 400 best gun i have ever used will lay your paint at 20 psi.

i started with a black 97 in rough shape paint was shot several dings dents scratches sanded her down pulled and mudded what needed done final sand was wet at 600 grit. shot her a blackcherry color then two coats of clear with some purple pearl then two more coats let it cure re wet sanded with 600 grit once again then reshoot it with three more coats of clear. any parking lot battles should buff out.
