guage Gremlins
Just got some Prosport Premium gauges(Boost, Oil P, Oil T, Water T) Wired them all up getting readings no problem..... but when i switch the head lights on they die. Ive tried wiring for just one colour and they still die when i turn the headlights on.
wired like so:
Black/Ground-grounded to CD player ground
Red/12V Constant- wired to CD player constant
White/ACC- wired to power window harness
Amber/Parking lamp- This wire i had wired to the dimmer is currently unhooked
when i switch to the parking lights the gauges stay lit however as soon as i rotate to the head lights the gauges die all together. when i had the amber wired up to change to green for the night they would change when switched to the parking lights then die as soon as the headlights were put on. I checked for voltage drop when switching from the parking lights to headlights but there is only a minimal drop(about .1 V) Any ideas?
thanks

when i switch the light to parking lights (no headlight) the gauge would turn on... as soon as i turned the headlights on, the gauge would shut off...
i noticed when i turn the headlights on, ALL the accessory lights would dim...
well, turns out that, that small voltage drop that occurs when the lights are dimmed as the headlights turn on, was just enough to make the gauge shut off...
idk if thats what yours is doing, but even the slightest power change, will shut the prosports down
