Haltech E6X

He's got some people in Germany and Greece who want him to come and tune their cars, too. He wants to schedule it around a F1 race and have them get him tickets. He was telling me this and then smiled real big and said, "You have a passport, right?"

He isn't paying for anything, and he took his wife. He gets a free cell phone and hotel room on the beach. All expenses paid!!

please, that extra resolution is not going to make any difference at all on a miata, you'll just have more bins to tune. these arent 1500hp supras.
so, can the haltech do EBC? because thats about 10x more useful than a little more resolution.
and there's always ms HR if you're that worried about it.

Of course, optional for the package, definitely going on my car. $89 is well worth it.

That's stuff he did on a 3SGTE 2.2 and 4G63 (EVO8) 2.0 with Autronic ECUs.

Vid of a 240 on our dyno. Yes, Brice tuned it, too.
We don't do dyno queens, we tune for usable power and reliability.

Actually, it looks like a really nice ECU. The extra resolution really is a double edged sword, but this Haltech does offer sequential injection and sequential ignition. Sensors, I/O, and other features are pretty simillar to MS with exception of knock sensing. Don't see any mention of any knock sensing or knock control. IMO, that would be its downfall, otherwise looks like a nice unit for $1100.

Sorry, you don't have a clue. My initial reaction to this thread was that people were ******* you for no reason. Now after, "don't ask for proof, just listen to my friend who made 450hp on a an Evo," I think you're an idiot.
Eat a dick.

Did I say with a stock turbo? No, I said with an SAFC (rather than a Autronic ECU). But actually you're wrong about the turbo too. AMS made 411whp with a stock turbo. Not to mention Curt Brown ran 10.59@127mph, that'd indicate a lot more than 350hp. Highest HP he dyno'd on the stock turbo was 400.5.

Straight off the AMS website:
EVO8 Stage III
http://www.amsperformance.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=22_111&products_id=518"]
"increasing power to 370-390 HP on 93 octane." Sure sounds like the stock turbo maxed out at 350WHP.
Turbo Upgrade
http://www.amsperformance.com/store/...roducts_id=805
"have 400whp potential on 93-octane pump gas"
If the stock turbo was good for that kind of power, why offer an upgrade kit?
You can make more power but it will cost you the longevity of your turbo, and you will be fighting it cause it will be past it's efficiency range. Like I said before, we tune for streetability, and reliability, not a dyno queen so people like you can jump on a forum and act big cause they saw it once. How many passes did he make, does he DRIVE it on that tune? How long before he got the good advice from AMS that it was time to upgrade the turbo???
Do I also need to mention the variables involved in dyno comparisions?
I didn't post up acting like I knew everything, cause, obviously, I don't, and neither do you.
I put this thread up in the hopes of finding out what combinations people were interested in, and to get them a good price. There are limitations that our vendors have as far as how we can price their products. We can side-step these somewhat by doing package sales, which is what I am trying to do.

You're missing the point. Point is that you're preaching to us about this guy who tunes cars on some island somewhere, and you're using an unimpressive 450hp Evo as proof of his superior knowledge and ability. It's asinine. 450hp on an Evo is good but it's not atypical of a modified Evo or anything special.
Fact is that whether the Haltech will outperform the Megasquirt in a given situation is hearsay at this point because nobody has done it. And there are other factors like cost, other features and ease of use to consider. Your friend saying the Haltech is "way better" and you using a 450hp Evo as evidence of his knowledge is crappy internet bench racing. Alamo should put a leash on you before you make any other foolish and unproven assertions while representing them.
There is nothing wrong with the Haltech and I'm not saying it wouldn't outperform the MS. But PROVE it first instead of just saying, "my friend said this, now spend money!"
