what do those two things do?

Neither is a sensor. The one towards the front is the purge solenoid for the charcoal canister (emissions related) and the other one is the ignitor for the ignition system.

alright thx. isnt teh ignitior usually in the distributor or since its a coil pack, they put it externally like that?
