Default Help Me Pls !

I drive a 97 Miata NA 1.6ltr ( not the 115hp one ) powered by a BegiS turbo. Ever since its been installed its spools up but doesnt go anywhere I kept getting told by ppl that it was my stock injectors and ecu not providing enough fuel to the turbo...

Today i just got my intercooler installed...i was riding w/out one for while @ 5psi. I was assuming that after I got my ic installed...i would really feel a difference...although its seems a little bit better my car still doesnt " go "

Im really down in the dumps right now

can you guys PLS tell me if:

# 1 is my stock ecu & injectors the issue... can it be because the later NA miatas were programmed with less hp than the early 91 - 93 models ?

# 2 Can it be a compression problem ? I had that checked out and I measured for each cylinder 180,178,178,178...Mazda said that was fine, even if the other cylinders were at 170.

or

# 3 did my mechanic not put the turbo right or he set it up wrong...

Again, i floor it...i hear the spool but it doesnt GO ANYWHERE..it just hangs..pls help me !

Adam; maybe you have a boost leak Doublecheck all your turbo pipings and see if you don't have anyone of those that may not be tight enough.

About your compression numbers; Those are really good numbers for any car with as many years as our cars have. Rest assured, your engine is fine.

BTW, please go back to "user CP" and place your location below your Avatar. I get the sense you're a foreigner so you may not have any other forum member close by.

Let us know. BTW, maybe you're also a candidate for an O2 Sensor clamp from Olderguy

lol, I guess braineack beat me to it!

get a wideband. I can't see how people drive turbo-cars without one.

If you won't have a wideband get one. How can you possibly know what's going on unless you know your AFR? Are there any signs over over fueling? Lots of black smoke? Gas smell? Have you put a fuel pressure gauge in to see what your fuel pressure is?

Give us a list of everything that was installed on the car.

I'll throw out a wild *** guess and say you are probably over fueling.

Is the clutch slipping. That is alot of extra power. Or do you have a automatic that is slipping.

First, check for a leak, retighten all the silicone connectors.
Do you have a Fuel pressure riser? What is your timming set at? Do you hear any knock?

Adam, there are 2 members of this forum from Greece. I don't recall their names (too old for that!) but maybe someone can tell you. If I were you, I'd pm either of them. They are both knowledgeable.

Ok..i got the afr gauge installed @ mazda. Its one of those POS ones that the light goes all over the place. How do I know this is hooked up right to begin with ? I mean theres lights goin back and forth and I do realize its fluctuating constantly but on WOT the light goes out ?! I noticed it goes out when its passed lean ?! But I dont hear knock ? I dont know what gives...

I go full throttle and the turbo hangs....doesnt go anywhere. When you mean to tighten the hoses...which ones are you referring too ? Oil, and Water Lines ? The turbo is hooked right on the manifold...i dont see what to tighten up ? In regards to boost leak...i read that its usually from an intercooler. I never had an intercooler...i was running w/out one @ 5psi. Can it be the ecu ?

IIRC the Begi-S uses their AFPR. If so, double check to make sure you have the fuel lines correct to your AFPR.

Yes, its the Begi S for the 1.6. how would I determine if the fuel regulator on the BegiS is setup right ? It was installed by default I believe...is this where Im supposed to tune my turbo ?

AFPR ?

AFPR = Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator. It's the piece that looks like a UFO. This is what raises your fuel pressure to increase fueling with boost. If your mechanic didn't hook this up right, then you are not getting enough fuel to support your boost = BAD. I mention it b/c more than a few people have hooked this up to either the wrong fuel line or backwards so a common mistake.

Hi adam . In which area are you ?

Check the wastegate. Is it loose ? Maybe it stays open when you floor it.

I just took it out for a spin..my afr light went off, in other words it was sooo lean it didnt even show up on the gauge. I am convinced its the AFPR since you have a BEGI apparantly and im sure as **** my mechanic put it wrong. He looked bewilgered when he saw it. Youre right...it does look like a UFO...ok how to I troubleshoot to double check ? At idle the fuel pressure gauge under the hood shows 40. Does that indicate if its hooked right or wrong ?
