Here is a stupid question
Which temp sensor is which on the rear of the head (94-97)? Isn't the little metal prong the sending unit for the gauge? The 2 pin connector is the actual sensor for the ECU, correct? Just noticed the other day my JB Weld job has failed and the guts of the sensor and the connector have come apart from the brass housing. No wonder my fuel consumption has gone up and the car feels weak and sometimes runs funny after I start it. And yeah, I lost my Haynes. More or less sharing my catastrophic failure with you guys. Shooting pistons out of the block, nothing compared to a $30 sensor!!!
Side question, what do you guys think about using a place like RockAuto for sensors? I'd prefer use OEM, but it's $35 vs $15. Any savings is good savings, but not at the expense of quality. Couldn't be much to something as simple as a water temp sensor though. Brands like KEM Parts and Four Seasons.....

Looking back to 3 minutes ago, I'm not sure why I even posted this. One of those "let me post what is on my mind" moments I guess. I already know the answer, I just wanted to be reassured. Oh well, you will read it and want your 20 seconds back and curse my name for eternity. At least I was up front about it being a stupid question. So if you read it, it's your own fault, stupid.

Just making myself welcome. I love to hunt, **** yes I love it. Going out into the woods with my bow and arrows, **** ***** guns are for bitches real men use bows, watching giant bucks bleed out the throat is a beautiful thing but in a totally straight macho way. I usually bring my buck knife along to skin the deer, I do everything by hand, I have huge callouses. I don't have a girlfriend, good news for all you bitches, I prefer a rotation of **** buddies on-hand at any given time, bitches love guzzling my *** with their ********. I work full time running heavy machinery on an oil rig with my muscles, I spend the rest of my time playing pool, drinking whisky and driving fast cars. I shave, but only with a straight razor, and even then I still have a ton of hair on my chest and in the pubic region. My greatest fear is that I may be too manly, if such a thing can exist, but then I just tell whichever girl is sucking me off that that given moment that she's doing a great job and I feel like I'm empowering women and feel a bit better. I'm only on this website because I feel like I should share my expertise with the bitches and ------s of this forum, maybe some day you too can be a pale comparison of my manhood.

estephens:
On the 1.6L, and probably your 1.8L as well judging by the 1.8L injector harness sitting on my workbench, the single wire sensor goes straight to your dash water temp gauge. A wire should run from your injector harness to the tab on that sensor. Mine is black with a blue stripe.
Good luck.

THE POWER!!! I make a **** thread with no purpose, that I actually barely remember making, and people still take the time to come and **** in it. Thanks for the "help" guys.
I can't recall if it got broken while putting the engine in, or if I had it out and installed it after the fact. Pretty sure it was after the fact and vibration and the harness tugging on it finally pulled the internals out of it. So no telling how long I have been without it. Wonder how much it has actually been effecting my car. I would imagine quite a lot. Wouldn't the ecu just see it as cold all the time and dump a **** load of fuel all the time? I guess I should have figured this one out sooner. My car has been having a start issue every now and then where it will start and idle, but any kind of throttle input will cause it to bog and sputter and nearly die. It always waits till I pull out of the driveway onto the road to do this of course. Very safe.
