By the way, we'll be entering the FrankenMiadillac at the Buttonwillow LeMons race on 15-16Aug. So all you local SoCal guys should check out the race even if you don't enter a car yourselves.

Bring cold drinks, you'll need 'em.

They're being tossed on corner-weighting scales sometime today.
I've heard preliminary estimates of 650 lbs and 800 lbs. Made the car scrape like hell coming back into the driveway at home!

Does reentry of a winner, especially a Miata-based winner increase odds of the people's curse?

I was wondering why there wouldn't be a forced retirement or something after a showing like that.

Completely unnecessary. To the best of my knowledge, there has never been a 2-time LeMons winner. Consider the facts:

1: winning takes a lot of luck. Getting lucky twice is unlikely. Something about lightning, blah blah blah..

2: Winning pretty much guarantees a residual value of $499.99 (the Metro that won T-Hill was valued at $499.98 after it won), leaving you no money to fix/maintain the car before the next race. After 14 hours of flogging, your shitbox is likely shot. The Metro, for example, HAD to replace their chain (and upgrade to a double-chain, acutally) between races, resulting in a 13-lap penalty from the start for spending $130 on used chains and sprokets. They also ran out of luck, melting their brakes, nearly rolling (colliding, roof-first, into a Volvo instead), and finally snapping a ball joint.

I doubt we'll be burdened with 337 lbs of nickels again this year...
