I didn't do the work. I just took pictures of it and installed and it enjoyed it.

NeoGenesis2004 did the work.

 

You'll need one of the giant c-clamp style valve spring compressors. Because of the way our heads are designed the small and convenient tools don't work.

You'll also need a short piece of 1" thick wall pvc pipe to extend the tools grip with. Otherwise you risk damage to the lifter bores. I used a piece of 1" steel tubing and gouged up my lifter bores a bit, I was able to polish it out, but that head makes a lot more racket than the other two I've done.

You will also need a valve lapper. You can get the manual ones that are a suction cup on a stick, but they are slow and hurt your hands. Spend the do on one with a crank lever on it. I normally use coarse grit lapping compound, fine grit compound, and then mothers polish for the last go round. I like my valve seats shiny as hell before I re-assemble.

Search M.Net for this kind of info, I know I saw pics of the tools needed over there.

That ohc tool brain used is what I have. The cheapest I've found them is around $60-70 though. Well worth the money though. They ******* rock! I got mine on ebay.

that's a fair trade....in my book.

 

thats some nice DIY headwork there.

 

it helps out alot, but in my opinion i would buy a salvage head and do it just incase something goes wrong and you mess up, and also it helps with down time...
