How much should i offer for a na 90-93 possible bad motor? The tuner is a good guy and said to make a offer. I want to be fair. If he want, he can have my chassis so ima offer that any damage on his chassis ill just take parts from mine to make it whole be for i give my chassis to him,which is what he said i should do. My chassis has rust issues and a iffy frame.
1 just want his chassis might also take motor and tranny...maybe
2 will be for the track
3 will need work
4 some damage finders and stuff no frame probb.
5 will be transferring parts from mine be for i offer to give it to him
so.... what sound fair? i dont want to dick him but i dont want to feel my butt hurting ether do to um stupidity? plz help

Just tell us about the Miata the tuner friend has (year, miles, condition, location, etc) and then what is up with your Miata. Offering him $250 may be fair or offering him $1250 may be fair. It all depends.

 

Is there rust? Are you in the rust belt where such thing is even a concern?

I can't put pics up but I"ll try and get the other info in a day or so.I'm in Indianapolis. My car... hhhmm... my car is damaged in the front and rear. I got hit by 3 different people over the years. I now have a rust hole on the driver side floor pan. Shane said the rails are garbage. Rust on the lower quarters and rails. Someone stole a bunch of **** by cutting the soft top to rags. Last but not lest, I can still see damage where i had repairs done. Everything work and run but my shell need to go. I will have info on the other car in a day or so ok.

 

I saw the miata today. This is what i have to say. It's a 1990.I believe its a parts car It's missing a headlight. Both fenders are dented up and look like it was shot up buy a drive by. It's also missing a bunch of parts in the engine bay.The rest is a list of what is missing:the coil pack,all belts,i don't see the alternator, the drive shaft,a seat ,glove box handle and lock, the bezel that go around the radio and heat & a/c controller thing,finish panel in the rear, both tail lights, the whole antenna and the stuff it mount to.Now, I did look at the soft top. It have a few holes in it but way smaller than mine. The body is in good shape and with part from my car it will run.o from what I can tell there is no wire issue, could be wrong. it has power windows and new speakers. It also look like it had cruz control. o yea there was also some surface rust on the windshield frame and the passenger side quarter. So, what should I offer cuz I do need the body.

 

So if I got this right you have a POS and this guy you know has a POS and you hope, with both steaming piles of corn infested dung, to have a reliable Miata?

Seriously, parting out cars is a royal pain in the neck. However, I imagine somebody could make an argument that the tuner's car is worth $400 to $600. I wouldn't even buy it for $250 but that doesn't mean it has no value. Offer him $250 and see what he says, you may have to go up to $400 but why?

Think about simply cutting your losses and walking away. There is no money to be saved in buying his turd in exchange for your turd.
