I believe he already installs this "board" on his megasquirt units, you just need to buy one of them

You can switch to an NA8 alternator, which has the ribbed belt like all the other NB accessory drives, and wire the lower wire (white green on an NA) to 12v, and the upper wire (black/white on an NA) to the ground side of the charge light (cluster also has a resistor built in AFAIK). Also AFAIK, the black/white wire isn't necessary.

I’m running a Haltech 1500. I’ll give the NA8 alternator a shot. Just need to wire it. Seen a few different ways. Appreciate the insight.

Sorry for resurrecting a very old post.

Nb2 with ms3pro pnp, pro dash. Have been having some alternator issues. Want to test if my ECU is having issues with voltage regulation or not.

If I put in a na or fd alternator can I simple leave off the 2 pin connector? And allow the na/fd alternator to self regulate?

I'm not worried about dash lights or anything just want the alternator to charge correctly.

Did you end up trying it? I'm also NB2 (MSM) with MS3 and sounds like we have to make the wiring bypass changes to have the ECU not talk to the alternator at all.

Yeah you would have to wire to alternator to a switched 12v directly, instead of the the ECU controlling it.

Default Tried this with FD alternator

I tried this mod with a FD alternator on the nb2. Did the diagram and my alternator is over charging. Any clues what it could be?
