I didn't pass emissions
A Noob needs help. I failed on the NOX test at 25 mph. They said my EGR valve might be stuck. Can someone help? Where is the egr valve, how can I tell if it is stuck? How can I fix it. The car passed everything else, so I just need to get that fixed. Thanks guys
Didn't think they used an egr until OBDII.
where is your timing set? failing NOx can mean improperly set timing.

High NOx emissions are caused by excessive heat due to high combustion chamber temperatures.
So look at your ignition timing, cooling system, spark plug's heat range
if all are ok possibly just clean out the cumbustion chamber from carbon desposits. and check your compression.

Just a thought...
I don't have emission testing here but I was wondering if you stuffed your muffler with Motorcycle muffler packing right before your test will it hep you pass. I know it filters the oil from my motorcross bike realy well.
Just an idea.
Also the EGR valve can be cleaned, pull it off take it apart and spray with carb cleaner. Most of the time the vacum tubs are cloged with carbon and will not let it open.

Yes, the '94 does have an EGR system. Look at the parts diagram, page 1-L-4 (34 of 89): http://www.miata.net/garage/90-99Par...3%20ENGINE.pdf
In the US anyway, it's the 1.6s that didn't have EGR.

huh, didnt think it was on the 1.8L untill ODII in 95-96 or whenever...
either way, the egr valve is on the back of the intake manifold closest to the firewall. Bolted in from behind, possibly (2) 10mm or 12mm bolts.

I got a check engine light a while back for my egr valve. Took it out and left it in paint thinner over night and it's been fine since, although I couldn't put the egr pipe back on with my begi mani.
