nope, stick with the v-powers. I cracked an Iridium plug a few years back and put the NGK's in with no issues since.

Only reason I used iridiums, is because the casheir at pepboys always rang me up for one sparkplug. (so I always ended up paying 8 bucks for a pack of 4.) Not sure if she still works there...

I like 'em

NGK Iridiums (freebies!) ATM, which run no probs ~12psi. The Densos they replaced started misfiring after about 6 mths (only under boost). The regular NGKs that those replaced (damn mechanic) worked fine.

Moral of the story - NGK, FTW d00d...

oh yeah, NGK Max are the double iridium/platinum plugs which should work more consistently with that whole wacky wasted-spark reverse polarity thing...

I like the iridiums because of the fine tip on the center electrode. in THEORY you could run a slightly larger gap... I use the IK22 or whatever IK2* is the right size and heat range. I forget.

and come on, price wise, it's not like you buy them often.

bringing this back up- what are you guys gapping the iridium plugs at? I ask because most of them for the MS come at .044, wondered if a bigger gap was possible because of the plug.

I have NGK Iridiums in the OTM, they missed under boost at the stock gap, gapped them to .030 and now it runs fine and no misses even at 15 psi.

So is there any performance gain to be had with them? Im replacing my plugs this weekend and I was just gonna get stock plugs because they have worked fine with the stock gap.

F iridiums. For the price you can't beat the NGK V-power plugs. You can change them practically 4-5x for the price of one set of Iridiums.

Think of it this way.

Plugs have a range of effectiveness, over time they loose their ideal properties. Would you rather have a longer life and a longer lower effective range.... for a higher price? Or for a fraction of the price... refresh those plugs on a more regular basis.

Come on... changing plugs on a 4cyl takes like 5 minutes.

iridiums will last the life of your car. I still stand by them.

the real deal here is that NO spark plug will offer any more power than any other spark plug if they're new.

the SLIGHT difference in the iridiums is that they have a very tiny center electrode. that means higher current density.

the major difference in spark plugs is life expectancy. copper is shortest, then platinum, then multi-electrode, then iridium.

so replace your coppers every 10k, your platinums every 30k, or your iridiums every 80k.
