I'm looking at attempting to remove the input shaft from my manual transmission.
I currently have the bellhousing off as shown.

MX5 5 speed

Am I correct in thinking that if I stick a punch down these holes that it will release the input shaft?


It's difficult to see the hole in the above pic (my iphone camera sucks) but there are 3 holes around this face. Do I punch out the roll pins inside?

I haven't had any luck punching anything out yet but what I aiming for is this below.
Any help?
