Default Inspections in NoVA

Heey good morning all!

I have to bring my miatas into a shop and get VA state safety and emissions done fairly soon. So far my usual shop wants to dick around with me on just about everything... coil-overs, HIDs, turbo... and anything that just doesn't appear to be bland.

Anyhow, just curious if anyone here has a good contact for at least safety inspections; but hell, a hook-up for emissions would be grand too. I'm itching to get these cars all legal'd up for spring.

Any hookups and help will be appreciated. Willing to drive 2 hours and pay healthy $$$ so I don't have to gut all my **** to pass.

Thanks and cheers,
Matt

the midas at washington and lee in arlington has only ever said "keep an eye on those brakes" when doing a safety inspection on my car.

they dont care that they are wilwoods.
and they have only casualy commented on the rest of the stuff.
I think one of the managers even owns a miata.

I paid mandated state inspection fee and not a dime more.

I know Bristol VA/TN is forever away, but a mystery shop there would let you slide with anything for an extra 20. PM me if you want.

Brain,

Thanks for pointing out the good info! I'll read up on what's law and what's just a shop being ----. It just sucks that it has to be so hard to become legal.

As for the CEL, yeah... my car has like 4 or 5 codes from the Adaptronic install and I've had zero time to dick with it. I wasn't expecting it to be perfect out of the box but all these codes are a pain in the ***...

Cheers,
