Default its always something....

So i just started my car for the 1st time in 3months...i know i know i shoulda periodically started it. I'm prepared for flaming.

But back to the issue. The car started right up the 1st try and immediately it didn't sound right, but brushed it off as it was working out the gunk etc....Idle was very rich at 10.x-11.3ish

i let it idle for about 15 min, no major change idle got a little leaner 11.x-12.2ish, went to the gas station, put some fuel injector cleaner in it, and a full tank of 93. drove it for about 15min and still no change.

decided to try some boost and see how it is...well that was no good, instant hesitation and stuttering. and i noticed oil pressure dropped a little bit. SO i went to a jiffy lube and got an oil change. oil pressure back to normal, but still stuttering and having hesitation...still running super rich.

I decide to go to pepboys and get some new spark plugs, get home gap them to .034, put em in, and of course 0 change. still having same problems.
and then i noticed my gas gauge, I used almost a 1/4 tank of gas going a total of maybe 15miles

No black smoke, no puddles of gas, no visible leaks, my vacuum lines look fine and all are tight and secure

I've narrowed it down to Injectors stuck open? and got an idea from a friend that the FPR might be stuck closed? both would cause fuel dumping in to the engine.

any other ideas?

Bad gasoline... 2 months is enough time for gas to go stale, not combust properly etc...

If you have a low tank of fuel, Top it off with fresh stuff, perhaps a little CAM 2 for octane boost... if lots of gas, pump it out. Smell the fuel. bad gas has a distinctly different smell.

I try and leave no gas in anything that is parked for extended periods. lawnmowers, Weedeaters, Blowers, saws, Even my Mini.. Hagerty Magazine even just had an article talking about how gasoline goes flat quickly now.

Just a thought

Goodluck

so, its not injectors, its not FPR. its the Coils, cyl 2 & 4 aren't firing, taking off COP's and putting stock ignition on to see if it fixes it.

i was going to say "stuck injector". i'm suprised it ran at all if you were only getting spark on 2 cylinders.

Surprised it took this long for this post to come up... Why the hell would you take your turbo miata to Jiffy Lube EVER, especially when it's having issues?

didn't really boost. and thought maybe it needed to just open up and get whatever gunk was there out.

Anyway, its not the COPs, same problem with stock ignition, looking into injectors more. I disconnected injector number 2 from the harness and there was no change. When the same thing was done to the other cylinders car would run even worse. Grabbed another injector harness and gonna swap it out and see what happens.

Did the car feel really rough all the time or did it smooth out sometimes?

If its an intermittent thing maybe it has something to do with condensation from sitting?

You blew the welds on your intake manifolds paul walker. Seriously, if you unhooked your injector and nothing changed....... that could be it.
