Maybe me. Removing the tailshaft housing and isn't that hard if it just to reseal it. Once you have to remove 6th (its located in the TS housing, not in the central housing), it becomes a whole new ball game.

Edit: I would not do this work on the car though.

What does the additional tail shaft detent add to the procedure? Does the detent need to be removed before sealing, and then replaced afterwards?

I finally got my 6 speed, and plan to re-seal it before installing.

removing the tailhousing it can be left in but removal makes feeding the selector-rod into the tailhousing when reassembling a lot easier

Removing the detent in the tail shaft house for the selector rod is simple. I just take out the plug and fish the spring and ball/sleeve out.

Those are in no particular order, you can see the stream of oil in the pic where its open and laying down, that's where your trans will leak if you try this in car.

The shift shaft with the tension spring is the one that flops around and would make reassembly difficult as well.

At this point, you knock out some pins, remove some detents, undo some C-clips, remove a few gears with some light prying, and the trans housing comes off as well. I believe you also have to remove the input shaft housing and a C clip under it to seal the trans housing. So that part would require removing the trans. And even if your trans doesn't leak there, I'd be concerned when unbolting the tail housing that it would after it's been unbolted.

The paper gasket that closes the turret (4 bolts). What is P/N, or is it Okay to use RTV?
